What a way to start my blog for this month...Polar Bear! It is not the season but I just came across some of my winter cakes and I thought I'd like to post this cake today! It is a two tiered cake and Polar Bear is the theme. The birthday girl is just so adorable she drew a picture of a polar bear with a purple strip scarf. The mom scanned and email me the photo - I tell you, she is an artist! This is her cake!!!! There are polar bears on top of the tiers and on the sides of the cake. Take note, she is wearing a striped purple scarf!
Since we are into the winter cakes I have done in December 2010. Here is another Polar theme...this time it is Polar Express. I was showed a photo to copy...I have no idea who made the cake but upon research I believe the cake photo belongs to Dahlia's cake. I have made little changes to it but the rest of the design was from the photo. This is a HUGE cake being a three tiered cake. Trust me - it was heavy!
Another cake that I truly love is the handy tools guy - this was again from my winter cake files. Then I will stop and bring you back to spring!!! Oh well computer problems...I promise to post it later...

Bow Tie Cake
I do not really know how you call this kind of bow... a ribbon? ...or a bowtie? Whatever it is, I just love this style of bow. I was asked to create any design for this cake - the only request is to keep it mint green. The first thing that came to my mind was a bow! I have done a lot of those present bows, so I want this to be different and feminine abeit the green color. Alas the bowtie. This bowties had to be done a week early to dry and keep its shape. Then again while making them you'll haveto consider the shape and size of your cake as you do not want the bows to be too big OR too small for your cake. You want to make sure it fits that space you are planning to place them in. Tricky huh? BTW, the picture doesn't really do it any justice. In real color, this was a pretty, pretty mint green tiered cake...ah well, I was still pleased how it turned out. I would always remember this cake.

Bowling Pin Cookies
This was the cookie that came with the Bowling Cake I have done in the past. I will post the cake in later discussions. This cookie is a bit bigger that my usual cookie. If I remember it correctly, it is about 4" long. So if you are craving for butter cookies...you know what you need to get!
Oh you know what I thought, these would look great with a personalized message...or just have you name on it...COOL!!!

More Polka Dots
Did I not say that Polka Dots are REALLY very popular? These styles looked so simple but it has it's own ELEGANCE. The tiered look made it different than the usual sheet cakes we commonly see. The bows were made of gumpaste and colored to match the dots, except for the white bow that matches the white dominant color on the tiered cake. I probably have done more of this style than what I have posted here but I am pressed for time to put all of them together. This is just an idea how the bows and different dainty colors can give life to a simple, tiered cake. Sometimes, I go for simplicity...
This was a baby shower cake...it looked just like my previous cake polka dot photo BUT this one has all the handmolded fondant baby thingies on the bottom tier.
How about a little variation? Square-shaped bottom tier with stripes! Believe me or not this square cake yields more servings than a round cake of the same size.
I love this one!!! Aqua Blue, Brown and Peach! Square Tier with Polka dots all over.

Rainbow Polka Dots
This pattern and color combination had been so popular so far. It has been requested countless times for Baby Shower cakes, First Birthdays, and even for smash cakes. The colors are so dainty! It is just easy to match any invitations. The bows are fabulous! I think it just made the cake. I love it as it is just as easy to match your color scheme!

COOKIES!
I truly enjoy making cookies. I must admit they are very time consuming - but why not? as they are a work of art! It takes art to mix the dough, it takes art to roll the dough, and it takes art to cut and bake the dough. Did I even mention decorating these little babies? Ahhh, that is a different story. But in all honesty, I just love making them. From the time I start mixing all the ingredients together, to packaging these babies, I just can't help but smile as I know I made these cookies with LOVE. These are all butter cookies made with the freshest ingredients! No secrets here...
These are the all-girl GYMNAST cookies. I think they look adorable...and look at them when they're packaged.
Sweet. This weekend, I did some FAIRY cookies. I added a twist to my cookies this time - I added accent fondant to give dimension to the cookies. I think they look great. A liitle different - put extra work on it but hey, it was well worth it!
Here's some number cookies:
Casino Cake
This weekend I was commissioned to do a casino-themed cake. It will be a tiered cake so the idea of creating a slot machine or poker table is out. This will be in round tiers, probably about three to give the "height" impression. The colors should be black. red, white, I guess the more casino-y colors. Then I have to incorporate the request of having poker chips and cards to the cake. Of course, what is a casino without poker chips and cards! So there - I have the picture of the cake in my mind. Early this week I was making the fondant and the figures - it is better to do them early on to have enough time for them to harden and keep its shape. I worked on the poker chips, the cards and dice. Yes, DICE! cute!
Where's the playing cards? I placed them on the sides of the middle tier. This was a Red Velvet Cake with Creamy cream cheese filling and House Buttercream. This baby was heavy!!!
